Hi.

I have a strange problem that no one seems to have experienced so far on the forum. Basically I've got an oil leak around the oil filter housing area or oil filter cant pinpoint where from exactly as everything seem to be covered in oil.

What makes it even more strange is that oil doesn't leak when car sit over night nor it leaks when the car is driving.

It only leaks after a cold start for about 30 seconds.... but when I say leaks it pretty much pours out (I can see a stream of oil when I look under when the car started in the morning)

Could it be a hairline crack in the oil filter housing maybe?

I am quite sure it would be as you have said, hair line crack, as it is cold it would be opened up , and as it heats up it expands in size and closes.

Give it a good wash and clean then when you cold start it stand there and watch it and see exactly where it comes from. Could it be something simple like the actual filter or filter seal?

maybe a faulty oil seal on the filter itself.
it will feel as if it is screwed on tight but in reality there is a gap between the body of the oil pump and the filter.

I had a similar issue after changing the oil and putting on a new Ryco Z418HE filter.
Took the filter off and smeared some red rubber grease on the seal. Tightened it back up hand tight while wearing a rubber glove. That seemed to solve my issue.
