Hey I just wanted peoples opinion on weather or not this is a good deal for the 100K service for my TT. I got this quote from Manta in SA and includes everything except spark plugs and oil and filter cause I had that stuff done not long ago.

Dear Tom

Parts prices are as follows:-

Thermostat and "O" ring $33.43
Water Pump $163.96
Cam belt $68.61
Cam Belt idler pulley $259.00 (ex Melb)
Cam Belt tensioner pulley $150.55 (ex Melb)

Approx labour to fit the above, change gearbox and diff oils
$544.50

Plus coolant, gearbox and diff oils

Kind Regards

Steve Cramp.

I think you could buy the parts for a bit lower than that. Not sure what the others cost, but the tensioner for the 1J I bought for 129 bux from Castle Hill Toyota about two weeks ago. I'd suggest you ring them up and see what the others cost, postage might cost you a little, but either way you could save around 100 bux maybe judging by the $20 difference on the tensioner

EDIT: I ended up not needing it anyway, so I returned it hehe. They don't wear off much you know.

Yep, might as well, save duplicating the labour later.

And Steve is absolutely a top notch mechanic.

I think you may need to change the idler bearing. I would check the tensioner pulley first before you buy a new one (you can always return it though). When I was doing mine, I only had to change the bearing as it was wearing off a little bit, car's got 191,000 kms, but the tensioner pulley was in a very good condition.

100K service is now all done and am very pleased. Steve from Manta Racing Services is an absolute champ, best mechanic I have ever gone with. He did all the work himself which means there are no snotnosed apprentices there to give the cars a thrashing. I would defiantly recommend him to anyone.

Sorry I couldn't go with your belt Neil but needed to get this service done while I was on holiday from uni, cheers anyways.

I'll add to the resource of figures, my service has just come in at $1167 which I figure is OK.

However bushes and rear brakes to fix in addition to this, will save these for another day.
