Im looking for the cheapest and safest filter relocation option.
Ive seen relocation kits go for under $100, but i cant seem to find any anymore.
Does anyone have one lying around, or can someone point me in the right direction.
I know i can get a full kit from ebay for around $350, but i think it would be cheaper to just get the parts myself.
19 Row Coolers are about $50 on ebay, and look to be awesome, but the relocation parts are the hard bits to find. I will be getting proper lines, so that will be the most expensive part i assume.
Thanks Ben
PS- Will this fit on the 1J with room enough to put the filter on? I would think it might be getting too close to the strut tower?

Just be a little wary of what they 'look' like. That is something that you definately DO NOT want to fail, otherwise you'll be up for a new engine. And you'll be much better off pricewise getting a kit. I got a price on doing some custom braided oil lines with earls fittings (mates rates) and it wasn't too far off a whole kit!
Also (not having a go at you!) but why do you want an engine oil cooler? You really don't need one unless you're bouncing off the rev limiter all day on the track. It just seems a little strange that once one person on the forum gets something, then everyone else has to have it too, even though for 90% of the cars here it'd be a frivolous waste of money.
As I said, if you're an all out racer, then go for it, if not, just do the relocation.

BTW if you do go the cooler/relocation route, just make sure you get one with earls fittings, not the cheap and nasty push/clip on variety like the p/s and tranny oil use. At the pressure that the engine oil runs at, odds are that you'd blow a hose off it sooner or later.

why do i want a cooler?
Because i have a massive oil cooled turbo. Its not water cooled, so my oil temps would obviously be slightly higher than standard water and oil cooled turbos, especially if im on boost all the time.
I realise what your saying, but this car is mainly used once or twice a month, and when i do, its going for a long time (a few hours driving) and always pushed hard. The track will be something i'll be looking at a later date, but for now, i want the engine to run as smooth as possible and with as little wear as possible. I realise a cooler is not going to do much driving around town on a stock car, but with my turbo and my love of boost, a cooler is the smart option.

I Can see your point Ben, but even with running a bigger turbo thats only oil cooled, Isnt it only going to reduce the life of the oil? And if your only using the car a couple of times a month, then maybe it would just mean, changing your oil every 2,000km's instead? Up to you i guess.
For quite some time, oil cooled turbo's were all that was available. And with every aftermarket installation, im sure they all didnt fit oil coolers for the sake of longevity. Just a good quality oil and regular changes. Most tracks guys change the oil almost every meet.

A big hot turbo with oil running through it will make the oil hotter, therefore more wear on the motor. The hotter the oil gets past its premium temperature range, the less it protects.
