hey guys..

recently installed a new head unit, and had the big gap underneath, so i purchased 3 gauges to fill up the space..

now for the boost gauge im fine..
but wiring up the RPM and Oil temp gauges im lost.

rpm has only 1 wire to connect? where am i tapping that into?

and the oil temp has a sensor and a few more wires, how do i go about doing this one?

any help or links would be appreciated

RPM you can tap off the ECU. 3rd plug, middle row, 2nd wire, pink from memory.

I can verify when I get home if someone doesn't post a wiring diagram beforehand.

The box with '36' on it is the ECU. Normally it sits in that somewhat clean patch next to the other unit. Theres a black cover over both units when you first pull back the carpet.

Good to see my pics in circulation :-)

For oil temp, pressure or supply you can
follow this link

or buy a brand name sandwich plate that fits between the oil filter and mounting boss with integrated tapped junctions for gauge sensors.

I have no idea Matt, although, it's only 1 wire of 2 possibilities, give em both a shot! :-)

This is just my thoughts but AFAIK the IGF wire that comes from the igniter tells the ecu when it has fired. ECU counts them and works out the RPM. Then the other wire would be the output to the tacho. So technically they should both give the same reading.

There are different singals that can be sent for rpm signal though so if it doesn't work you may need a tacho signal converter. I didn't need one with aftermarket tacho and a microtech but I couldn't get the MT output to work with the stock jzx81 tacho.
