I had a local exhaust shop install my HKS sequential BOV a few weeks ago, while getting some work done, and I think they haven't done the job properly as its not making anymore noise than when I just had the stock valve. Where should the vaccuum line to the BOV go to?

Usually it connects to an inlet manifold line (ie. after the throttle body). The vacuum in the manifold when the throttle shuts causes the BOV to open.

Ok that's where it connects to. I've still got the stock BOV hooked up, I know there is a way to keep your stock valve on there so you don't need to buy a block off plate, should the vacuum line for the stock BOV be blocked off or what?

yeh pretty sure you pull that vacuum line off.

I blocked up my stock one with a block of rubber (tink it came outta a GFB blow off valve kit... but easy to make / find) Looks stock / stealth.

You need to run a line to the nipple on the bov to get it to work properly.

Has it seized ? pull it off again and lube it up, check if the piston moves.

got any pics ?

Make sure the little black bolt on the rear of the HKS BOV is all the way out, this will allow it to open! Just be sure to undo the locking nut before trying to turn it.

Adam I don't know if you have had much experience with HKS SSQV's but they are not BOV's renowned for incredible noise. In fact the noise they emit is more like a whistle I find (some people unfortunately choose the term "wet fart" to describe the noise made?!?). I think you should try and track down a site that has an audio clip of a SSQV upon a car of similar specifications to your soarer and have a listen. Here is one on a WRX if that's any help

No Marc I'm definitely not getting a sound like that. This BOV is the SQV, not to be confused with the newer SSQV, but yes David I have unscrewed the bolt on the rear of the valve. I'll have another look to see if anythings askew. It's a secondhand unit that came with the car, what's the possibility that the spring needs replacing?
