I'm planning to replace the coolant. What should I use to flush the unknown redish looking coolant.
I was wondering where do I fill it. With my previous car I simply have a fill point which is just above the head. I simply filled it turned the car on and topped it up whilst it was running and screwed the cap on.
Can the same be done with the TT at the top of the radiator or does it have to be bleed through to insure there is no air trapped in the head.
BTW where is the drain plug I have been unable to spot it from the top.

Drain tap is at bottom of radiator. Use Toyota Long Life coolant concentrate and dilute to 50% with de-mineralised water.
Drain, flush, add 50% of the coolant capacity using the concentrate then top up with demineralised water. That way you allow for any water left trapped in the block etc.

i used a normal (quality ) coolant not toyota and i have not has any dramas with it.....
i dont know what people's fascination / obsession with using toyota stuff is considering it usually costs a fair bit more.
Its a pretty easy job, shouldnt take more than 30 min, just dont drain it when hot as you may burn yourself !! (been there done that.. school boy error hah)

When I changed to Toyota Red coolant in the V8, all I did was drain via the tap on the bottom of the radiator, then flushed through with the garden hose, put the Red coolant in, and topped up with tap water. Never had any probs with air trapped, or anything else for that matter.
My system was very clean anyway, as no crap came out when I flushed it.

No offence intended here , BUT... The Red coolant does contain properties that the cheap stuff doesnt. If price is someones main objection here, then pardon me, but Why The Hell did you pay over 10 Grand for a car and then wanna complain about having to pay $50-$70 for Good coolant? It only needs to be changed every 2 years or 25,000kms ( thats always a safe measure for cooling systems). It bugs the crap outta me that people will go and spend Thousands of $$$$$ on modifications and stereo systems and what not, but then bitch and whinge about the price of one of the most important things in your vehicle. That being the cooling system. And its not like its gonna cost you like $500 or more every 2 years to do it.
Also the fact that if people say and it has been proven by some, that the red coolant may help protect things like your water pump seals and such, its a small investment to make sure you and gonna have to fork out ALOT of money to change a water pump or something in the future.
Sorry but it had to be said, people whinge about paying the smallest of amounts sometimes to keep anything working at its most efficient, yet spend so much on other ancilleries and what not.

Be kind to your Soarer or whatever and always use whatever coolant the manufacturer recommends, It for a reason. Each car may contain different types of alloys or other materials in which the additives in their particular coolant may help protect.

Ok so my mechanic one of the best I have ever seen or dealt with recommends techalloy gold as the best coolant that money can buy.
It has the same chemical compound as what the toyota manual stipulates there coolant is so what else is different.
I would think it would be exactly the same unless there are other additives which are not mentioned.
So I figure that techalloy is great stuff I have used it in my camry with no complaints infact I would say it was no different if not better than the toyota coolant as I ran a more concentrated mix.

Just to add to that I just brought the car picked it up yesterday and I'm going to be changing all fluids asap even though according to the previous owner they were done only a few months ago. I am doing this to make sure that the car is in tip top condition and will remain so for many years to come.
Maintaining a car well will insure a reliable one my camry has done 330,000km with no problems at all. I service it myself except for timing belt water pump and spark plugs as they are a bitch to do and I don't have the tools required.
Oh I took the disks off to be machined when I replaced the brake pads and I don't have a lathe at home.

Higher Consentration means nothing.

Doesn't Big W sell Clean Team Coolant which is the same as the Toyota Stuff except a different dye?
Wrong.

TAP WATER DON!?
Tap Water is at least a known Element in thses days of Pollutants in the Air.( Rainwater is a mystery these days ). There is nothing wrong with useing Tap Water with the coolant mix.

If you're changing types of coolant, use a chemical flush to get all of the old coolant out.
CORRECT

all i hear is "blah blah blah...."
not intending on offending anyone either, but FFS to argue that Toyota coolant is better than any other is just the same as arguing that technacoly (or however its spelt) is better than toyota's stuff... nobody is goin to win. Get over it
but yea - try and use demineralised water, its cheap and tastes funny too

My votes for toyota coolant for the extra $30 or so it's worth it, I mean how often do you replace coolant! When I bought my car it was running tectacool sh#t I flushed the system instantly! I have always used toyota and it has never failed me so I stick with what I know. Ohh and another thing in toyota coolant's favour it's red and red goes faster
