I have read the forums and it would appear that an SAFC would be idle for leaning out my air/fuel mixtures. At the moment, my car is dead stock (save for the BFI). I don't have any aspirations of putting in FMIC's and up-ing the power, because I like it as it is now. I use the car for "normal" driving, with a little bit of kick every now and then.
Now if I buy the SAFC I assume that I will get a better air/fuel mixture (hence no longer running it rich) and this should allow me to achieve better fuel economy than I am doing now.
I guess at the end of the day, if I save a fair bit of fuel I should make up the purchase of an SAFC down the track. Would I be correct in saying this?

You'll only save fuel under full throttle boost with the SAFC. Its a basic fuel computer.
If you want fuel economy, get a LS1 Edit workshop to do a full ignition and fuel tune using a greddy emanage or powerfc.
Kind of joking about the LS1 workshop (holden workshop), as they probably wont want to.. But, if they did they would do a darn grand job of it. Some of those workshops know what they are doing when timing etc is concerned.
There's a lot of potential ive found with Ignition tuning, and just putting around town requires less pedal and consumes less fuel. Something to consider i suppose.

Yes SAFC2 is around $270. It makes you car feel and sound happier too. Just make sure you get a good tuner, it all comes down to a good tune. But a good tune, only tuning fuel, shouldn't be that hard to do.
Good luck.
PS - they are basic to install. Just make sure you buy one with an english manual.

$270, jeez, what truck did they fall off of? Or is that second hand? The cheapest I have seen the safc2 new for is around $395!!! Or you could just get the jaycar version, under half the price and twice the tuning points of the apexi.

yeh i recommend getting one, my friends soarer is stock and he got his tuned and leaned his out heaps in the lower rpm cause was dumping fuel just before hitting boost. he said after tune went heaps better and now gets about another 100 kms to a tank. i have one too but my car is too modded to save fuel haha
