Hi all

Yes my top tank finally cracked last night as I pulled into my garage.
Now does anybody know the rough price for a new one from Mr T?
Also would I be able to replace it myself or does it need to be taken to a pro?

Thanks all

$380 is abit much.

I paid $250 and they (Radiator Shop in Sydney) removed it and fitted it. And tested it to make sure it wasnt leaking etc. They put new coolant in, But it wasnt Toyota coolant. I got it drained later on and put Toyota Fluid in.

$250 is cheap. I got the top tank on my old Soarer done for about circa $300 from a place in Revesby (Sydney) but this was a few years back.

You can't replace the top tank yourself, you need to get a radiator shop to weld it on for you, then they'll pressure test it to make sure there are no leaks.

Mine went about 2 1/2 years ago. Removed the radiator myself (only 1/2 hour job) and just took the core to the radiator place. Only cost me $154 too!!!

BTW Toyota won't sell you the top tank, only the whole radiator (BIG $$$) bit like they will only sell you the complete control arm, not just the bushes.

I think so, from a V6 Camry (3VZ or 1MZ... I'm not sure if there was a difference between the two motors).

Selly's epoxy putty (waterproof version....$14.95 a tube) has been stopping mine from leaking for a while now. (new motor coming...I am NOT doing a radiator BEFORE it goes in!!!).

Ummm, wrong. I had mine done two months ago, we bought the toptank itself from Lexus dealer for 120 bux or something. Overall fitted, flushed, and new coolant it cost me $330.

I got mine done for only $250 and that included 'good' coolant and testing etc and that was in Tassie where everything is more expensive than the mainland!

That was a genuine Toyota one too.

Ahh rob, welcome to that club.

I did mine about 1500kms ago. Yeh i just pulled it out myself which wasnt too difficult and then took it down to my Servo and sent it away to the guys we use.

Cant remember how much i paid, BUT once i get home ill find the receipt and let you know via this forum.

*stay tuned*

Red Devil Radiators on Moss Street in Brizzie did mine for $250, cleaned pressure tested etc.

Just take the radiator out (they don't do it) and buy some new coolant....easy peezy.

Is there any aftermarket radiators anyone can recommend?

Perhaps an Aluminium rad would fix this problem once and for all?

OK -

I got mine redone at CAIRNCROSS RADIATORS AUSTRALIA, they are at 20 Collingwood St, Albion. 3262 2888

Supply and fit new plastic top tank - 126.50
Replace o-ring
for plastic tank radiators - 22.00

Cleanout radiator - plastic tank
and re-firb (paint) - 62.70

TOTAL - $ 211.20

mine was 35% blocked apparently.

That price includes GST and i pulled it out and they picked it up and dropped it off at my servo.

Im pretty sure some kinda mates rates were involved, but hit em up for the same price that i got thru CALTEX TOOWONG... or call Errol at Caltex in the workshop and let him know you need the same job as james got. 3870 7838 (caltex)

OK, that's my bad! Was just going on what my radiator dude told me. He ordered an aftermarket one from one of his suppliers for about $89, add to that the $65 for labour and that brings the total to the prior mentioned sweet as price of $154, nice and cheap, about the only thing on my car that has been!!!

That was over 2 years ago though...

What does it look like????

What are the symptoms???? Is it over heating and leaking coolant???

I had some white stuff coming from here (look at attachment). But i thought it was just a loose hose. Should i get it checked???
