Hey all.
I've got a small issue with my cooling system, being that when I removed the radiator cap this morning to check the fluid levels, I noticed a very light green/whitish sludge on the cap and throat of the radiator.

I've never seen this type of thing before and have absolutely no idea as to what the cause might be.
Could someone shed some light on this please.

Knowing my luck it's an oil/water mix and my engine is going to blow to bits around the same time as my tax bill comes in
Not that I'm a pesimist or anything but if I ever see Murphy, he's a gonna.

Relax.
Its probably mineral buildup from tap water used in the cooling system. Time for a flush and proper corrosion inhibiting coolant.

Couldn't be something as simple as that could it?
I've also just started using my heater, so maybe old water/coolant starting to circulate might have something to do with it.

Mine had that just after I bought the car - and sitting in the bottom of the overflow was about 1/2" thick of settled slimy (green/grey) sludge. I don't know if it was from a past oil+water issue or maybe even a mineral build up like Cihan speaks of, but since I cleaned it out and flushed my coolant, it's never come back.

Looks like the way to go.
Will do a flush and refill, see what happens
Thanks
