I have got a quote to change the cam belt for $300,
is there any place cheaper than that price in Melbourne

Yes, its the same as the timing belt.
Yes, $300 is a very resonable price with or without parts. Its probably at least 4 hours work for a good mechanic (took me 8, but I'm neither good, nor a mechanic)

that is a great price
work it out
$60 odd dollars for the toyota belt
and around 4 hrs to do the job at lets say $66 incl gst
so yer $300 is a good price

nah $300 for a cam belt job is a bit pricey.
TT timing belt is quite easy to replace. Took me just under 3hrs including changing cam seals and crank seals and bearings. $300 for the V8 cam belt job is cheap, took me bloody the whole day and shreded a bit of my skin.
