Hey guys I just have a few questions regarding a noise coming from somewhere around the turbos. Here goes.
3 weeks ago I installed dumps and got an exhaust put on, after this when the car was on boost everything was fine but when I got home i found my radiator had a crack in it. After this I stopped driving it. I did have to drive it to the radiator shop tho so they could measure a few things and get my new one in. Drove once or twice after this but only very short distance and all times driving it very gingerly. Radiator arrived on thursday and spent all last night and all day today installing it along with all my polished pipes, plenum, 440cc's and intercooler pipes/kit. Car started first go with no warning lights and only 1 vacuum line left un-attached. everything was double checked and adjusted. Took her for a drive and when i gave it a squirt it would spool up and then a loud whiney whistle started too. The Bov was noticably quieter on release too but it doesn't feel like i've lost power... also bearing in mind i hadn't given the car WOT for a few weeks.
I drove it back to have a look but couldn't see anything and dont wanna start taking apart as im exhausted and bout to go to bed... but what could it be ?? I refuse to believe my turbos are buggered as this was the first time it happened, they have never been boosted past stock boost and only have 77,000km's with your regular oil changes and no shaft play.
My guess is my mate may not of screwed the intake pipes on securely or maybe one of the gaskets isn't on properlyr maybe something is stuck down one of the intake pipes.
What are your thoughts ???
On a lighter note tho, everything polished is in and plastics painted, looks SWEET, will post up pics tomorrow.

Sounds like you have An Exhaust leak maybe? Or your Standard BoV is leaking. They have been known to do that under higher boost conditions.
What about Water Pump bearing? You say your radiator was cracked, Did it run dry at all? Water pump bearing can be pretty darn noisy. Hope its an easy fix for ya mate!

When I took my car for a test after my install of the FMIC I blew a hose of the intercooler and the loud whistle had started at low rpms. The result was I tight'nd all the clamps and now have no dramas.I hope it is easy as this but the only other two possibilities could be a boost leak or water pump bearing,With the water pump you are close to replacing it now(100,000k's service)so maybe this could be it.I don't think it's your turbo's.Good luck mate and keep us posted.

If it was the water pump bearing shouldn't I be able to hear it at all revs tho ?? not just when im on boost ?? Water pump shouldn't affect the audible level of the Bov either.

Gaskets/seals? Check your cat for an exhaust wheel maybe.
I had mine go at about i think it was 115,000kms. I also refused to accept it was my turbo but as it turned out , exhaust wheel had come off and had the exact symptoms as you describe.

Mine made a whining noise when coming onto boost. No massive lost of power. I looked for days to find a air leak on my intercooler piping. Finally started to pull the car apart and it was the front turbo just barely touching the housing. Replaced this turbo put it back together and the car has never been better.
