Hey guys, just wondering what you mean by whinning being bad? as my turbo whines but i always thought thats what turbos do... ive had my car for just over 8 months and its always made the same noises...so dont know if they were toasted when i bought it or wether im just being nervous... you can feel the kick of the turbos kicking in at just over 2000rpm and the whinning becomes progressively higher in pitch until it reaches a point where it doesnt increase in tone...always feels like there should be a bigger kick but thats just because im a speed freak.... :P

now that ive done the math, its pretty obvious that the turbos are worm...i always wondered why i could smell burning oil coming from the engine bay after driving the car! is it very expensive for a rebuild from anyones knowledge? because if it is then im going to upgrade rather than bother fixing them because they have ceramic blades and housings which crack under high boost so ive been told and id like to run slightly higher boost at some stage....

I've never heard of the housings cracking under high boost. How much "slightly higher boost" are you wanting to run eventually?? Burning oil smell could be numerous things.

Anywhere between 2 - 3k for a rebuild depending on what you want done.

Get Justin single kit. Well worth it. 2700. Just get the old turbos off and stick his single kit on. It will end up being the dame for a steel wheel or his kit with a cooler and manifolds and dumps.

Whoopsie.

Justins kit is sold.

If you want a T3G set up that will bolt straight on with hks manifolds and dumps than i might be able to help you out. That will cost around 2500 but i am not sure how much postage would go for????

Cheers, didnt realize you could do a single conversion, does the factory computer not play up? so you guys reckon its cheaper to just upgrade as opposed to just getting them rebuilt with steel turbine blades etc etc? definately something to think over! just a quick question, the twinnies on the 1jz are identical ct12a turbines right? just curious, as i have never taken the shroud off!

Mate if it always make the same sound perhaps what you are thinking is bad is normal.

Have a think about that, I seriously doubt you could drive the car down the road on boost if your turbos are

My advice would be to thrash the out of them for a bit, if the fail they were stuffed if they still work the same then they are fine.
