Putting a 1JZ in a hilux would more than likely require you to push back your firewall. If i were you I would like at something more like a 3S-GTE. It would fit quite easilly and they are still a damn good motor ! I have also hear of a lot of people putting 1UZ-FE V8's in Hiluxs with ease.

Yeah, i was also thinking about a 3S-gte, cause one of my mates crashed his mr2 and looking to sell that, i wasnt too sure about the conversions needed from the rear mount engine to front mount, but if that would fit it would be awesome, id rather put a 4 cylinder turbo instead of a 1jz lol, because i think putting a 1jz would be pritty crazy haha. Cheers for the advice mate :-)

I have seen a few hilux's with 1jz's with standard firewalls but it is a very tight fit better of with a 1uz-fe the v8's fit perfect i just sold a 98 hilux with a 308 the engine looked standard

Adam Foster, from here has a 1uz up for grabs as he has totalled his soarer (everything else is mine - don't bother asking!). I think he's chasing about $2300 for engine, box, ecu and loom. Motor is in very good nick.

Ben, off-topic, but can I/we pull a door lock mechanism apart? I am curious to find out why they can get sticky, well mine are anyway.

Hey Ben, yeah i'm gonna start looking around for maybe a 1jz, im still going to see if my mates 3S-GTE will fit in it, which i'm hoping it will haha. But i would be interested in the 1jz if the mr2 motor falls through, just a question, is it an auto box?

Very nice mate, yeah im still wondering if i should do the 1jz or not, hey Ben Daniel any idea what kinda conversions needed for the 3S-GTE? or anyone who would know what kinda alterations id need? not really sure if it would be worth putting the GTE engine in it. But then again the 1jz is looking like the better deal haha. If anyone knows of anyone who could tell me what kinda conversions id need please let me know :-) Cheers
