Got a quote for 2 high flow cats, 2 baffeled dogs and 2 carbon cannons all in 2 inch for $1200 sounded good to me but thought I should ask. I will be doing the sc headers from rush later. And will this be loud? I want a good note but not a ticket from the boys in blue

You'll be able to get away without the dogs. The baffles will just add restriction. You can get straight through hotdogs but these seem to change the note rather than damp the noise.

Anish so how loud are we talking? Im just worried about being pulled by the police even more than I am now.Carliner in penrith said if I was worried about noise then the baffeled were the way to go. Neil I have told them I want your sc headers is there anything that should be done to prepere for them? And would you prefer me or them to order the headers. And whats the lead time to get them?

Lars, are you coming to Canberra on Saturday? If so, you can hear my car and Ollie's with similar setups (he has headers and I do not) except that we do not use cannons.

Not sure of decibels but I've got headers, X-pipe, 2.5" standard compliance cats (carsound 91006 off memory) and two 14 inch long lukey ultra flows (straight through).
I've never been pulled up for noise. I was pulled up for speeding from the front of a set of lights but the noise wasn't mentioned.

Don't get the exhaust first if you are ordering headers in the next few weeks. Wait until the headers get here so that the exhaust can be made up to fit onto them. Besides, it seems silly going to an exhaust shop twice at $80 an hour when you could get it all done at the same time heh..
I have high flow cats, lukey mufflers and 2.5" twin exhaust, it's not very loud at all.. When I get up it, it sounds like a V8, when I'm cruising it's pretty damn quiet and there's no drone..

Well the exhaust guy said to me, that no matter what I do (short of running the exhaust straight out the manifold, iliegal and dangerous) the 1UZ is never going to be the loudest car on the street.
But in his opinion and mine, they are one of the best sounding motors. He said no matter what exhaust he has fitted to one, they have sounded beautiful.
