While car is idoling there is a faint ticking noise. Ask Toyota to have a look at it as a couple of the boys said possible tappets, same with toyota. If thats the case how much approx you thing to get it fixed??

Also suspected prob with catalitic, when I turn the car off there is a bit of ticking, pingy while cooling and that...what could this be? and what would I be required to do???

cheers

Tappets are expensive but not important if you can live with it.

In the order of $1k-ish.

Mainly labour, plus it takes a few days as they need to order specific shims to match the gap they have to fill.

There is an article here about doing the job.

Worse that can happen is performance might degrade very slightly due to cam timing and valve lift changes as the gaps increase, but probably nothing that you would ever notice.

Its a tricky job to get it right, you either have to spend a lot of time doing it yourself, or get a good engine reconditioner or mechanic to do it, and there are still going to be a lot of hours work involved.

Holy crp, kimberly. Take a breath.
Pen might get on you about punctuation and readability, then again maybe not.

I got out of breath reading that.

A little more attention to posting presentation is always appreciated.

Shift key has it's uses, as does the <enter> key to add line breaks and improve readability.

You can try some "lifter free" with your next oil change and see if that helps reduce the noise, don't know how this goes on the 1UZ/1JZ, but with my old mx-5 it was a common problem and a bit of that stuff always used to help a fair bit/

Totally NORMAL Kimberly. It's just exhaust system cooling down.

It's because the Soarers have a stainless steel exhaust system, unlike most normal boring cars.

that good abou the exhaust i thought it was normal cause my brothers WRX does it as well and there rays like you better get that checked out. He has a TT and his doesn't do it, but then again he has a whole (i think) aftermarket system on his.

my car revs out to high, well this is what dad reakons my car has to go up a nice sorta hillevery time it comes home and i got dad to give it some the other night...I knew he wanted to. So he left it in drive, put the foot down and off we went.
He said hmm it revs out alot before shifting, im like i know even does it when u go from low to drive.
