Hello All, I'm new to the game of the 1UZ. Is it possible to change the rotor button and dizzy cap without removing the radiator fluid and other accessories bolted to the engine... Cheers.

Ok... cut the twin jokes out, at least we try and make an effort in fixing our car and learn how to fix and understand the 1UZ and not pay people to fix it. Oviously no one knows this question and I find it really childish that people have insult interlect of others without understanding the situation. Seriously... no one above as been able to answer this question. If the mods keep a record, they can see how much I have searched but I'm still unable to find the answer. From the sounds of it... None of you really know the history of my brother and I. We both drive a modified cars (Using 1JZGTE) that originally came out with a different engine and all was done in the backyard legal using forums as a reserach. I was hoping that this forum was more techically minded and is able to help people like ourselves learn alot about the 1UZ. All of you are wasting valuable posting space and I'm just asking a simple question... It's either yes or no... Not go and search... I'm not lazy, I'm just asking a valid question and not wanting to waste peoples time. Thank you.

Oh wake up..Get a bit of HUMOUR into your self. How Flucking BORING do you think a Forum would be if it was just Questions & Answers ! In answer to your * I just want an answer * No coolant will be lost, BUT, you do have to remove a lot of covers to access these 4 items.

To me Dan's response is pretty vague... It's like saying to the parts guy at Toyota "How much is it for the water pump?", and his response is "Just a few dollars". Anyway we had to do a 100,000km service to the car here are the stuff I bought... All up came a AUD$325 including the transmission mount as the guys at my local parts department really look after me including a free can of Type IV ATF. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g191/jza61/d3ed6c78.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g191/jza61/d3ed6c78-1.jpg And finally my genuine AUD$80 water pump http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g191/jza61/9c4d1248.jpg Thank you for the response, I'll start the service tomorrow... |

If you're doing the water pump and timing belt, then you have to take them off anyway. What are you worried about??

Just 1 tin of type 4 ???? for a proper 100,000km service on your tranny? your parts guy will catch you out on the return trip for the other 2 cans of tranny fluid mate.

Guys, we have fun WITH people, not to hurt them, but to show acceptance. If you had read much of the forum, you would know that we have shots at Neil for being a grandpa (which he is), and shots at Don about being a sheep shagger (which.. well, let's not go there). You have probably heard all the twin jokes, fair enough, but most of us haven't, so for now, as well as making you a bit special, it means we might share a joke with you about it. Enjoy it, it's all part of the fun, and much better than being ignored.

Now I AM confused ! You want to know if you have to remove anything to change the Dizzy / Rotors, and then * one of you * turn around and * Gloat * about the great Toyota Man thats given you the parts to do a 100k service ? And you are going to replace the * Water Pump * Next question is ? How to replace Water Pump without loosing fluid ? HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA { Maybe this thread will turn EXCITING ? } Besides, HOW do WE know who we are talking to if you's share the typing ? Ed or Tim ! If you didnt want any Twins Statements made, why didnt you join as 2 individual users ?

They could be asking if they hadn't planned on replacing the rotors/caps during the service, but would change their minds if it meant they had to pull everything off again to replace them.

We read and heard from hear and other sources that the original dizzy and rotor button from factory would be cracked and needing to be replaced so we thought we might just change the dizzy and rotor button (like Darryn stated). We weren't going to do a major 100,000kms service but after having the guys at Toyota had a special on I couldn't help but buy all the stuff and save a small fortune and there is nothing wrong changing our mind in going ahead and wanting to do a major service, we live in a democratic nation were we are free to change our minds. I was planning to do the water pump and timing belt at 150,000kms... Good question Neil why we don't post as individuals. One it would look sus with same surnames comming from one IP (from an forum administrator's point of view) when you register and that we only have one computer so yeah, what's the point it's like having to two same sized hammers to nail a single nail... No point really. We share and aren't greedy like some families we know. Good example is a mate who drives a nice car, he doesn't even let his family members drive it. In our family we all have a car each and can drive what ever car we would like. I (Tim) bought the UZZ31 and even though I bought it, my brother (Edward) drives it and so does my mother... Edward and I post here as we are both intersted in the response so it doesn't really matter who post it. Both Edward and I would get full benefit of the answer Cheers.

I'm confused boys.....you obviously have bought a timing belt, water pump and tensioner etc...and you are asking if the coolant needs to be dropped to do a rotor or dizzy cap??? If the pump is being fitted everything comes out and it's a 5 minute check once everything is out to check the caps and rotors... 4 litres of type 4 ain't enough for a flush either expect 20 litres or so for a full flush including TC...

They asked before they had intended on doing the timing belt, water pump etc....Now I expect it's a moot point, other than being a reference for future users who bother searching.
