I've been asking around exhaust places in Brisbane to get a new exhaust system (mine is pretty crappy) fitted, including fitting your V8 headers - after I buy some from you. The quotes I have been getting so far have been guesses (about 8 hours) from people who haven't done them before, or crazy prices ($about 1500). Could you please give me a ballpark figure/time I should be looking for? Thanks in advance.

about 8 hours is quite correct Chris.. but that is just for the extractors.. allow more time for the rest of the exhaust..

Yep,,Reep is rite.. *hrs for Extractors (At whatever there labour rate is) Plus completion of system.. Eg..If I installed and had system completed,,you would be looking a $2,000 drive in drive out.

heheh ok i got mine done... was recommended Mettams Midland by a mate who used to work at the Kelmscott store... went there with a set of Neil's headers in teh boot and a set of cats.... guy had a look at em, had a look under the bonnet and quoted me $350 so i said ok. Anyway a day and a half (!) after i dropped the car off they rang to say it was ready. I turned up and was chatting to the guy and he ws saying what a plick of a job it was even after i gave them your tips neil on what to do. I said "so knowing what you know now how much would you quote me?" and he said "oh about $650!" Anyway i only wanted enough pipework just to get the headers/cats fitted as im going to do the rest of the system at a later stage, but they did a decent job of it anyway using twin 2.5" pipe feeding into a Y piece and then into 3" pipe where the centre resonator used to be. Robin it's probably worthwhile getting a quote off them for your system (tell em i sent you, heheh) although i suspect if you need headers fitted you wont be getting that part of the job done for $350 Anyway the car sounds just like stock at idle, light throttle and normal driving, but when you floor it, well theres no mistaking it's a V8 now... *much* more responsive and she fairly pulls with the foot to the floor , this is how it shouldve been from the factory! If i turn the TRC off the rear tyres aint gonna last, and this is still with the stock 4 mufflers and skinny pipes at the back....

Phil, you rogue well done. I've still got that quote from the Mettams Gary used for $1100 full system but its just a question of me getting the time to do it. I like the idea though that now they are experienced. I'll still give them a try though I'm out of town mid this month so that would be a good opportunity to it done ready for the AHG day.

Nice Phil, that blue just looks the part doesn't it? Mettams told me all I needed to do was get a copy of your invoice and they would do mine for the same price!!!!! But that wasn't the boss. I'm hopeful I can get it done this Thursday and Friday if I can get a ride back from Midland.

Thanks Phil but I spoke to the Boss at Midland today and he reneged once he knew the job I was talking about. You must have frightened him heaps. So I'm dropping it off out at Kelmscot on Wed evening where they did Gary's car. I'll let you know how it goes.

hey guys, I'm just wondering if I could get a copy of the invoice aswell... as I too am going to go to mettams to get my system done.... I've been quoted $1250 by Paul M through their enquiry email. It would be fantastic if I could get a discount aswell? Do you guys think you could help me out? "We can supply and install a turbo back dual 2.5 inch system on your Soarer for $1,250 in mild steel . This system will include two dump pipes, two hi-flow cat converters, two resonators and two stainless steel mufflers. The price also includes installation." THANK YOU

Kurt had the extractor fitted at Mettams Kelmscott for $250 and then got the rest of the exhaust done at Exhasut Torque Bibra Lake for $900 2.5 inch mild steel with stainless mufflers. Guy who did it told me it was "sporty" but I'd say it was a little louder than that. I was going to go back to the Guys at Mettams but it was just to hard to get the time to go out there.
