im having trouble starting my soarer and need some advice. the car has spark and fuel and when you start the car with your foot on the accelerator it will run.
if you start the car with out touching the accelarator then it will just keep on cranking and never fire.
i have noticed for the past couple weeks that the car has had an unusaly high idle and occasionaly if shifted into neutral the car will hunt on revs form 2000 rpm to 1000 about 4 times and then will go to idle.
dose this sound like the idle air control valve? any help would be great.

To check if it is the fuel pump ecu, short FP the B+ on the diagnostic connector under the bonnet. Use a thick wire or paper clip as current can be 7 amps. If you have no problems with the wire in, the ecu is the problem.
also if you look at the sensor near the pvc valve, when you have cranked the engine, the "philips head" screw at the top should be sticking up a few mm. this shows there is fuel pressure. when the fuel pump ecu is not working, it does not "come up" after shorting FP and B+, you will see it come up. alternatively check how much it is raised with the engine running, then check it when it will not start

don, does this same kind of diagnostic work when soarers are stuttering as well?? sometimes it is fine other times it is absolute crap especially under load of a hill or something, i have been told the ecu bypass trick would work.
