Just so no one else has to spend the time and energy tracking down this problem as well.
After a service my car started performing badly, heavy fuel consumption and the engine made a pinging noise (valve slap) when under load. My mechanic could work out the problem.
Ended up that I had to get Melbourne City Lexus to look at the car as Melbourne Toyota will not service Soarers. The problem turned out to be, the air flow sensor had been left unplugged by the last mechanic.
While I had it in there I had them Replace timing belt: $660 parts and labour Clean injectors: $120
Assorted other stuff (including timing belt and injectors) coming to a grand total of $1240
After all is said and done, my car is running great again
