my active has a custom exhaust but i think its wrong? its got rush headers and then the pipes as shown,surely it should have somesort of x where they join?

Stewart, that is effectively an elongated X pipe.

If you want a bit more noise, have it cut out and replaced with straight through pipes. :-)

There are arguments about which design is better, straight, X pipe, H pipe or something like yours, no hard evidence of power effect on Soarers, but having any sort of balance pipe is quieter than straight pipes.

how much more noise would straight pipes give.....?

ps,engine mounts changed today,no more squeaks :-)

One guy measured a 10dB drop in sound after fitting an X pipe - with no change on the dyno.

Good news about the engine mounts too!

in theory an x pipe should give a boost in mid range torque/power as it helps with the scavenging effect combined with the v8s uneven fire pattern. The same reason having 2 separate pipes makes it sound more 'v8ey'.
