At the stage to get my vehicle tuned (adaptronic ECU) and was recommended to purchase a oil separator and breather kit (catch can) as this would allow an easier tune aswell as greater horsepower. Is this overkill for the horsepower the NA can develop or worthwhile? any thoughts?

V8's don't tend to suffer much blow by from what I know, so it might be of doubtful use. Perhaps seeing how oily the inside of the breather hose is might help give you an answer?

Look inside your inlet manifold. It will be heavily coated with oil and oil sludge. Mine was baked on hard. Spraying with carby cleaner only removed the soft surface deposits.
