So tonight on my way home after a 12 hour day on deadline, I just pull off the freeway and am nearly at home and bam the car loses all power, but is still idling, then i slowly pull over to the side of the road. I turned the car off left it for 5 minutes whilst I was on the phone to my mechanic organising a Tow, I then tried to start it up again to move it to a safer more lit area of the road, it moved 100m and then stopped again and the Klingon message popped up saying check electrical system...
So my mechanic thinks the Cats have collapsed and blocked up, that's why I can start the car for 20 seconds before it stalls again.
If anyone here has any ideas on anything else I can check could you post it up, my car is on the back of my mates tow truck though and wont have access to it till tomorrow morning

Coilpacks, Ignition modules. Apparently, when one of these go, your car is still running on 4 cylinders, which causes unburnt fuel to go into the cats, ignite and slag them. When one of my coils went, same thing happened, massive loss of power, electrical error message, cat light on, but I was lucky and my cats were fine.

Well I just got the car back... first thing they did was pull the fuel line off and see if it had pressure which it did.. checked the afm and tps then they replaced the coil packs which where showing signs of cracking, checked the dizzy and rotor and leads and plugs still wouldn't run for longer then 20 seconds, pulled the cats off... still wouldn't go... had them stumped for a week, then this morning they did a full fuel line flush... the fuel lines where full of so much gunk that it was allowing the pressure to build up, but once you tried to go anywhere it would conk out.
so I'll be getting my fuel tank flushed very shortly, I saw what was in the lines.. and damn the gunk in the tank must be pretty bad, till then I'll keep it over half full
