Lifters? Soarers don't use lifters.

Maybe you mean cam bucket shims?

Technically, they are still lifters, just not hydraulic lifters...

I guess so, but a lifter would normally act on a rocker or follower, that would then act on the valve (hence the term "lifter") - I guess either way its the thing that stops your engine from making clicking noises

well jermaine it all depends how heavy the ticking noise is, whether your cam buckets actually need to be replaced or not.

For a full new set shims work on:
$15 X 32 = $480
Plus labor to change all 32 would run:
12 X $90 = $1080

Add GST and you'll be done

Different sized shims cost different amounts as well, also the more you replace the more the labor is. Just take it in to toyota and get them to change the ones that tick, if your lucky they will have all the ones you need in stock, if not wait up to 3 weeks to get them from japan. If you need a new bucket though the cam shaft will probably need to be take out, so double the labor cause that's a big job...

Don't know. Im replacing the injectors with 315cc ones next week... might help. If not who knows. I'll just get a blower so I can't hear it.The when the engines dies I'll buy a new one and put that in.

You can get an entire new 1UZ low km's for about 1-1.5k.
