So I've got some annoying engine noise, Toyota seem fairly confident that it is an injector or two and cleaning the ones I've had probably wont do much. I've looked into cleaning and balancing them. @15 each I'm up for 120 when I can get a new set of 7MGE 315cc Injectors for the same price, that are apparently Plug n Play

Can anyone tell me if it's worth me paying the same amount for the larger (pre-cleaned, balanced, flow and voltage tested etc.) 7MGE injectors?

There's an interesting article on Lextreme but it doesn't really tell me if they are good or bad for a stock engine. I'm not looking for any performance, but it would be nice if it was a side effect cause I don't plan on pulling out the old ones and sinking $$$ into cleaning them when they are probably muffed anyway.

For a stock engine I don't see any point in putting in the bigger injectors

Well I'm going to replace them anyway and it just so happens I have come across a set of the 7MGE injectors for cheaps.

The point of me putting them is is
a) the are direct plug ins
b) cheaper than getting the old ones cleaned, balanced and tested.
c) bigger is better?
d) future blower installation.

Yeah, future proof :-)

Let me know how you go. I have some 7M-GTE ones ready to drop in.

Your clips might be fragile, so be careful.. (i already broke one)

Noted, I'll be careful.
I'm surprised you haven't put in your green tips. I'm not expecting any power gains, would be nice though... LOL
Just hope it either gets rid of or helps me diagnose a weird engine noise.

Bigger is better?

With larger injectors you will need fuel managment, to avoid over fuelling.
7m-gte injectors are low impedance so you will have to run resistor packs or use management that has the ability to run them.

The 7mge ones are the correct impedance , so they are drop in replacement if you have the need, or are planning modifications to require them.

I've got 7MGE (green tips) so no resistor packs...

You are right Andrew, I have the latter.

Yup, no point unless you plan to boost, as Ashley and I are :-)

Tai I'd consider getting some 7MGT ones. You could find a set cheap and then you wouldn't have to ass around with resistors or anything.

Your car will overfuel badly, but I doubt much damage will be done, except maybe to your wallet.

If you can see black smoke at any stage then change the oil more regularly, as its slowly being tainted with fuel.

The cats may over heat, but I doubt it, and the stock sensors should pick that up anyway unless they are no longer installed, or are now infront of the cat.

And $120 for a set of NEW 315cc injectors is a bit cheap?
or is it just a set of cleaned 315cc injectors?

What form of management are you planning when you go S/C?

The stock car should adjust the duration to get the right AFR shouldn't it? :S

I have an adaptronic. I'm leaving the stockies in there until I S/C and then a big re-tune with boost and the new injectors etc etc..

Stock ECU will be able to adjust for 10-15% increase in injector size.

7MGE injectors are 25% larger.
I'd say thats well outside the limit it can adjust.

Just make sure you get the 315's overhauled before installing them.
