Mathew, I was told it was a dreadful job to remove and replace, however I thought I would give it go and it took about a half hour to both remove and replace with one I bought from a wrecker. I also had my original one rebuilt and it cost just over $200.00.

I had my alternator replaced in November last year. The mechanic recommended to replace it rather than fixing the old one. The mechanic got a new alternator from Philips Auto Electrical Supplies in Sunshine, Victoria. I paid $451 for a model ALT4197 alternator with an AP22 harness.

I've removed mine from my Celsior, not sure how different the chassis rails are, but its a tight squeeze to get it out.
Takes a bit of swearing.

Was $240ish to repair what ever was broken.
