Just lately Ive noticed that when the cars revved up to around 4000 or so and accelerator let off it has a rather easily heard squeak coming from some where in the front of the engine.

I dont think its the tensioner this time but thinking it may be the Water Pump on the way out or either the two cam belt idler bearings sounds like that area...

Its like a soft squeak that sounds loudest on the oil cap side of the engine

Any ideas on this guys?

Mike I think this has been recently covered, but I have had the same problem. I sprayed into the bearings at the front of the engine (those run by the serpentine belt) with WD40 with one of those tiny tubes attached so as to be more accurate.
If the noise stops as you spray one, then you have found your answer. If not I would be looking at the belt squealing. If you have not replaced this, it could be the answer, although I just put a new one in mine and it was squeaky when it was cold.

Hmmm, Im going to spray as many parts as possible tomorrow with some WD40, I sprayed the tensioner with plenty so it wouldn't be that squeaking as I gently revved it.

What are the signs of a water pump beginning to fail? Im just worried it could be seizing?

Ive also noticed its not really heard under 1900 rpm, but after that you can clearly hear it. Definitely from front left too...

i had a similar problem, all belts and tensioners were either changed or lubed,no difference, even drove the car with no belts in the end and sure enough, still squeaked,it was driving me insane..so what was it? it was 2 completely dead engine mounts, the 2 rubber bits squeaking against each other but sounding EXACTLY like a drive belt problem..heres the squeak when i finally realised where it was coming from.

honestly, try running the car with no serpentine belt as this eliminates all bearings etc for the squeak.i drove mine for 30 seconds at 5mph,sure you get a few error messages lol but it was all good when i refitted it!
i had changed both the idler bearings, lubed both belts with rubber grease all as suggested on here AND i had a new tensioner on back order at £130..i was that convinced it was coming from that area.
if your mounts have never been changed then my money is on that ;)
heres the ones i took off, silence is lovely :-)

Yeah I will try it with out the serpentine belt, that way Ill know if it does it still it lies with the cam belt parts then. Hopefully not though!

Oh yes, you could say they are well passed their use by date huh. Nasty...

Yeah It must be something along the serpentine belt line. Didn't hear any squeak with it off. Ill just give all the pulleys a good spray with WD40 - Hopefully that will sort it for a while. :-)

Don't forget, when a bearing goes, it usually goes fast.

If you are only hearing it at 4000rpm though, then it's not fatal yet - when you can hear it at idle its urgent.
