I was removing my front section exhaust heat shield covers as it was damaged.

Found there was this strange fibrous insulator under it... Any ideas what that yellow stuff was? Looks similar to the under bonnet insulation.

Any ideas if its harmful that stuff??

Probably not a good idea to eat it. :-)

Insulation. Rock wool or what ever you want to call it.
I was under mine yesterday and found another cat.
Instead of replacing the original cat for compliance they have added a another one.

Car was built in 1990, so its unlikely it'd be any kind of untreated aspestos - probably just silica fibre as Paul says. Still never a good idea to breath stuff like that in though.

Yeah I took precautions. But still was a little unexpected to find that sorta stuff under there. :-)
