Hi All,

Im loosing coolant about 750ML over a 10 day period. There is also a slight knocking noise at the front of the engine at idle goes away at anything above 1000rpm.

Does this sound like the water pump or something more sinister.

Ill be doing the timing belt and what's associated in 2 weeks so I'm wandering if i should just buy the pump as well.
Is there anything else I should be changing ?

Also my rear seal is now weeping :-/. What's the approx cost of having it changed and the trans flushed/serviced

Definitely do the pump if you are doing the cam belt.

Do the front gearbox seal and possibly the gearbox mount when you do the rear engine seal.

Both are big jobs anyway, so get the little extras done at the same time.

always replace this o seal that goes into the pump it takes 2secs to fit and costs cents.

Hi All,

the pump is now defiently at its last legs, had the heat gauge go up one notch for about 30 seconds (first time in 4 years).

Was quoted $340 for belt and pump form Repco.

But can get the lot form US(ebay) for less then $200AUD.

Any suggestions whom I can take the car to and just have it done?

Jovica try and get it done as soon as poss if the pump locks up (and they do) the cambelt will melt and snap.

Timing belt kit from Dayco is about $220ish. This includes belt, 2 bearings and cam/crank seals.

Timing belt tensioner from Dayco is about $140ish.

Waterpump (genuine) is about $160ish.

I'd do all 3 at the same time.

where can I get the belt kit for 220? Particular chain?

The pump ill get form Toyota.

I get it from my local auto store (not a chain).

But maybe Repco didn't quote you Dayco parts?
Toyota timing belts are only $66 and waterpumps aren't $300.

Also maybe get the kit from Rush Imports (http://rushimports.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=19) and source the seals separately (if they aren't included in the kit)

Neils price is pretty good.

dayco timing belt kit number is KTBA162
the water pump that i keep in stock is part number MC3104 but that number can vary.
