My car`s WOT performance below 3,ooo RPM is soggy , then when it reaches that point, it instantly comes alive and pulls like hell all the way to red line in all gears.
It is essentially stock, is this as good as it gets, or could there be some ignition/fuel problem?

Dirty air filter? Traction control on. Need new points. Need new plugs. Faulty ECU. Blocked Cat/s.
Restricted exhaust. Dirty fuel filter. Water in fuel.
Just a few things that could be considered.

Traction Control not fitted, others on list(except ECU) would be worse at higher revs you would think.
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding ECU problems, keeping in mind that at exactly three thousand revs, the engine comes alive.
Is the ignition or fuel control staged at that RPM threshold?

Sounds a bit like whats happening with mine.

I tried:
Spark plugs
Leads
ECU
Fuel Pump ECU
Igniters
Fuel Filter
Techron 5000
Dizzy Caps

and going to get a fuel pump tomorrow.

May as well do them at 2,800 while it is getting repaired.

The edit:"1UZ" factory computer has a timing hole from 1500-2800 or so, a good 20% margin there to be gained from ignition tuning. IMO the hole is simply there to make the car feel smoother under acceleration.

The tune is very relaxed when the factory computer in concerned, worth looking into a cheap piggyback with timing control as a fix.

Scott, Thanks for the info. I see you have a V8, what is your take on the V8 being soggy below 3,000 RPM?

I think I have found the problem here, It doesn`t have a twin screw supercharger, nor does it have a six speed manual trans.
Thanks Neil, I was afraid it may have been something more complicated than that!
