Hey,
i've just disected my intake, and inside the pipe that connects the air box to the flex piping that leads to the engine there's like a fan type propeller looking object (i tried my best) that consumes most of the inside of the pipe...
Why is this there? Wouldn't it be fairly restrictive??

It's the Air Flow Meter and it measures the air that the engine is drawing through so that the ECU knows how much fuel to inject to ensure that the mixture is correct.

I'm not talking about the Air Flow Meter. I'm talking about inside the pipe, the thing that looks like fan blades. I thought the air flow meter was just the electrical bit on top of the pipe that i'm on about.

Is yours a hot-wire AFM? Does it look like it has wires joined in a star shape inside it? I think the late model engines run a different AFM to the Karmann vortex AFM of the early UZZ30 series.
