well my original toyota plugs only failed after 17 years and that was after getting water into the housing. So i reckon stick with genuine toyota plugs.

How long a plug lasts depends on how its treated. The richer the car runs, the shorter the life of the plug. (likewise if its running too lean).
Its usually suggested that 20k the standard from a copper, 100k from a plat, and 120k+ from an iridium.
I doubt any of them produce a better spark to any other.
Most people with turbo cars run coppers and change them ever 5-10k km's because they tend to run richer than NA people and thus have a shorter life span.

Well not so simple.
Plats are rated to last 100,000km and will work fine for a stock 1uz. You will find they do last longer provided you car is running well or less if it isn't running well.
Iridiums are dyno proven to produce more HP for N/A motors.
For forced induction only copper or Iridiums are suggested (depends what you read) and Iridiums are also dyno proven to produce more HP for forced induction applications as well.
There was a dyno chart posted by Manny for his TT with a huge increase in mid range power and torque by just changing plugs from coppers to Iridiums.
Just keep in mind there are two size electrodes for Iridiums and the smaller one is only rated to lasts 60,000km, that being said my brother did 100,000km on them and they still worked fine.
