Okay I basically have 2 quick questions.

1. Is there a manual conversion for the V8s?

2. If there is, should i tune the car first and then convert, or convert then tune? Or does it not make a difference. Things I have planned are BFI, headers, etc

What ecu mods are you planning? Factory ecu has no scope for adjustments without aftermarket or piggybacks, so what exactly do you mean by 'tune'?

Gearbox won't make a huge difference to the tune of the motor as such, just more like where in the rev range your power really kicks in as the manual obviously has no torque converter.

Do the conversion and then the tune... Hard to tune down low with the auto...

Well after I do the BFI and headers I want to fit a unichip, and maybee a long way down the road when I can afford it, a supercharger.

Should I not be using the word tune here?
I'm kind of new to the car world so I'm still learning

Toyotas are funny things, unlike nissans, holdens, fords etc you can't simply flash tune the stock ecu. Basically its a unit that can't have its programming changed internally. The only option to tune it as such, is to fit piggyback ecu (eg unichip) or full after market, which you'd need to make the most out of a supercharger.

Its all good mate, we all have t ostart learning somehwere. Just be warned though, if you don't know that much about cars and are jumping straight into the world of soarers, its going to blow your mind!

Haha yeah, dont worry Ben, I was blown away from the beginning

By the way, I was reading somewhere about turbocharged V8 soarers...is it just me or is that crazy?!
And if it's not, would turbo or a supercharger be the way to go?

No, your not crazy, it has been done before!

As for whats better, really depends on what you are after. Super chargin will give you more power across the entire rev range, while turbo charging will give you mental top end (pending turbo choice). Either option, with supporting mods and ecu will cost at least $10k, so start saving! ahaha

There is also a nut behind the wheel that sometimes needs to be adjusted when you do those kind of mods.

Suggest you enjoy the car as it is while you're saving up the $10-$15 grand for your turbo/super charger and 5 speed conversions.
