Hey, I need help identifying what's in the pic below.
Whilst the car is running and just after i've turned it off I can hear a sort of gurgling, bubbling noise from this component, and through the tubes that run from it.

It stores fuel vapour in a charcol cannister that is periodically opened to vacuum to allow the motor to burn the vapour.

They are in all cars petrol tank vapour is not allowed to escape into atmosphere, started about 1985???

Excellent - you know when I first got my soarer and was trying to find out what filters it took - before I was with SC - I suspected it was the fuel filter...

I am curious where would the fuel vapour come from? Is it connected to the breather from the fuel tank?

Yep vapour from the fuel tank is trapped.

this is why you hear that ssssssssssss as you open the fuel filler , its under vacuum.
