Hi guys, I know that a broken cam belt means.... BENT VALVES which means reco head needed.

Some cars dont bend valves as easy as others. Is the soarer v8 a fragile motor when it comes to cam belt breaking?

If yours is a first gen 1UZ you have no problem.

The 1991 compression ratio is 10.0, so the the engine is a non interference layout.

However on the later 2nd generation 1UZ's with a 10.4 ratio they are.

If its the original motor it will be a non interference one.

My 1990 Celsior slipped some teeth on the cam belt once and it was fine. No internal damage.

Cheers mate. I had a look at it. It slipped 2 teeth. I have a cam belt to put on so I have my fingers crossed.

According to the GATES website the 95-97 1UZ is NOT interference.

However the VVTi 1UZ and 3UZ are.
