I have an SC400 can you repair a leaky sump with out removing the engine from the car ? It is leaking around the seal between the alloy sump and the motor.

I have tried searching but no clear answer seems to come up in the results.

Assuming you have a UZZ30 or UZZ31 Soarer, not an SC400, then yes, you can drop the sump enough to replace the gasket in situe. No idea on an SC400, or UZZ32.

According to some pics by someone on here the lower sump cannot be removed with the motor in the stock position.

Have a search through the V8 S/C section, there are pics there. He had to shave 3mm off his crossmember to drop the sump.


Also, there is no gasket, just a seal of gasket goo.
