These are a common wear item, not too costly to replace - they tend to corrode on the ends as in your case, over time they will become brittle and crack.

I'll be getting a new one as soon as I can find someone who understands the part numbers.
Here is the part number for that part Chris: Toyota 16355‑50030 "Front water-bypass joint"
It's actually probably more around $100 or so, I was thinking of the thermostat gasket housing I replaced, my bypass joint was fine - yours is probably okay though... give it a clean up and see how it looks before deciding if you need a new one, they are in a rather hard to get place.

That housing is f#cked! That little hole near the rear of the pipe will cause you all kinds of grief trying to get a good seal with the hose clamp. Fixable, but will need to be sandblasted and welded up (TIG). For the labour cost involved, providing a new one is under $120, you'd be better off that way mate.

Chris, try CMI Toyota here in Adelaide (in the city). They could probably ship it to you, but if they can't and you need someone from here to go get it for you and ship it, let me know.

Price update; this part new, is now approximately $240 ex Japan-(3-4) weeks. The (2) gaskets are approx $14.00 each.
If you shop around, you may be able to get the part in pristine condition for less than $200.00 from a dismantler.
If you go second hand, remember to ask them grit blast the part so you can check thoroughly before purchase!
The boys at City Dismantlers, (JASON) was more than supportive this week. Great to experience, first hand, fantastic customer service alive and well in South Australia.
