Hello all, my apologies if this has been covered, but I wasn't able to find anything relating to this using search.

Anyway, so i noticed a hissing noise in my V8, definatly air related, coming from mid left side of engine. Turns out the T joint circled below...

Upload

Has snapped a the joint.

Was wondering if anyone knows what this hose does (and is it relating to AFM cos its been running rich recently)?
Wether its safe to drive the car 30mis to Joe (need to get him to look at a leaky radiator anyway) and if not what the part number might be?

Any help appriciated.

Cheers
Fitz

If anything it will cause the engine to run leaner, not richer.

Mine is snapped as well, I just glued it back on with some silicon of sorts.

It goes down to the power steering pump for the idle up.

Oh, its safe to drive, it won't be affecting that much, but the problem is that its part of that big black intake pipe to the left. Its one cast plastic piece.

The plastic boss around it is big enough for it to be tapped out to 1/8 gas and then you just screw a brass hose tail into it,you can get the correct size hose tail from any Autobarn.
A better solution is too remove the valve on the side of the P/S pump , break off the plastic end weld it over and then screw it back in again, this will eliminate the sucking of the P/S fluid into the engine at a later date when the "O" Ring in the valve wears out.
I would be suprised if you notice the difference with the idle part missing .

This happened on my Celsior when I was rushing things, used some epoxy to fix it.

Guys this allows unmeasured and unfiltered air into your engine.

I would suggest you fix it asap.

Yes it does, but outside of idle it would be minimal, and barely affect it.

I'm sure there are a lot of 1uz's out there with intake leaks bigger than this.

I wouldn't allow my car to run like this sucking in unfiltered air.....

This is also simple and easy fix hence no reason to resolve this asap.
