If the AFM is playing up that will bugger the tune as well . Maybe swap in someone else AFM and see how it runs .

Don't test the AFM with an ohm meter it is a photo diode with frequency output not a resistive element type.

Sounds more like O2 sensors but really hard to say without doing some tests first.

Andrew, did you manage to work out what was going on?

I have a similar issue where the car is fine until it warms up. Once heat is in the engine it is sluggish until about 3000rpm when it just takes off as normal. Its almost as if it is in the wrong gear. I have no mods, no BFI, no nothing. So I am hoping to resolve it before doing the BFI mod.

Andrew the ISCV is almost impossible to damage. There is no contact for the stepper motor and the only moving parts are the bearings and valve. It is near impossible to burn out the windings.

The bearings do wear out and need to be replaced which will in most cases return it to a perfect working unit.

The ISCV also has nothing to do with a sluggish response.

From my experience unplugging the AFM has a massively changes the operation of the engine.

This is both with faulty AFM and good AFM's.

My suggestion is that your AFM could be ok and that either your O2 sensors are stuffed or that more than likely your ECU is on the way out.

the isc was stuffed when i got the car.... i had it looked at and it was good for a while, but the errat idle came back, and it's shagged

i havent even bothered to find out whats going on... all i know is im waiting on the isc, apparently everything else is now in order..

i've got more important tings to thinkabout atm

so i told the mechanic to sort it out whatever it needs, just do it...

and im driving a 20yo magna in the meantime... wow the 2 speaker factory radio is awesome!

atleast the boot is bigger than the soarer, and overall the 330,000km magna is still a better car than the VE commodore in my opinion!

Andrew this might be handy to pass on to your mechanic.

$22 in bearings and 20 minutes in time to remove and change them and the ISCV will be like new it is worth looking at.

Part numbers are 6902V and 608V.

A clean and bearings will probably make it like new and better than a second hand one.
