I have the same problem. i got absolutely thrashed off the start by a 2010 triton the other day until my car got up to 60km/h, then left him in my dust. It would be good to have a bit more power at in the lower gears. No room or money for a turbo so that's out of the question. I'm hopefully going to be doing one of the air intake options, but am pretty fricken scared about cutting out the air filter box.

i would think that the piping size for your exhaust system is to big and you would actually be losing power. 3 inch is fairly large, i would have thought 2 1/2 inch or 2 1/4 inch piping would have been more suitable for the application. i could be wrong i will let the gurus answer that

This will sound very stupid, but i just put that size down as a guess. The previous owner can't remember the size of the exhaust, and i don't know how to measure the size.

The best advice to give is the V8 loves air so give it a nice intake and a suitable exhaust 2.25" and if you still have these problems then a good service and checking for fuel blockage is in order.

Shaydan, just get under the car with a ruler to check width.

Shaydan, it's all about your launch technique too mate. I find with mine you can't just hit the accelerator from a standstill if you want to get off really quickly, it helps to bring up the revs with one foot on the brake, and then release when you want to go.

Yer i have found that not just flooring it and gradually easing it to the floor helps, and mike i don't have the money to convert the car to a manual and get all that stuff. i earn a wopping value of $80 a week. which goes mostly towards fuel anyway!

And as for the measuring i will do that, except i probably won't change my exhaust because i LOVE the sound it makes. A really loud raw sound that makes everyone look

Shaydan, basically from experience, owning a V8 Soarer and only being on $80 a week is stupid, I would sell it and get a cheap car until you can afford to run it or you will just slowly neglect it and things will start going wrong and adding up!

If I had my time again, I would have bought a cheap car until I had enough to be able to save to get my Soarer :-)

There is no way i"m selling the car. I love it. i'm getting an electrical apprenticeship hopefully at chrissy, so i'd rather keep the car. i also work in school holidays. i bought this car outright with hard earned money and i tend to do it up in this same way- by working.

And just measured the exhaust, and it's 2.5".

Shaydan, that's good mate,
Exactly how I did it, bought mine after working hard for five years at school, had to borrow money when stuff went wrong, but now I owe nothing on it, has everything fixed that was needed and I can enjoy modifying it.
