Hi guys,
I'm looking at getting an exhaust with extractors possibly from Rush or from wherever you guys recommend me. I'm in Melbourne and I would really love the V8 sound as well as some performance gain.
Question is: I want an exhaust that sounds tame when driving normal but when you give it some stick its a V8 monster! Or just sounds nice and not droney?
So what do you guys think? I'd be interested in meeting whoever has a nice exhaust system in their V8 so I can assess if I want the same.
I will need to know where and what prices I am looking at. I was thinking around $2500 mark. Show me what you got fellas, or in this case let me HEAR what you got
Hey Ken, since I have been dying to get an exhaust for like two years (still haven't) I have done the research. Apparently the smaller Rush headers aren't made anymore, only the bigger ones for the supercharged V8, so you may need to ask around about them.
As far as the rest of the system goes, 2"-2.5" pipes from high flow cats into hotdog resonators (eliminates drone!) into Lukey stainless steel ultra flow mufflers and then into tips of your choice (rolled single or twin tips) That is the best set up I have heard from videos and a couple around the place + talking to people.
Hope that helps!

Oh Yeah i've seen that. Sounds nice, but I want the headers too as well as all the other bits go with it. Front to back? I wonder how much that would set me back with the heat proof coat?

If you want to hear the best you are going to have to travel to Queensland to listen to mine. Rush headers into 1x 3" dia. high flow cat, 2 1/4" pipes, 2 small mufflers and 2x steel mufflers and stainless tips. (stainless mufflers can sound too tinny for me).

apparently headers are ment to be a whore to install. one of the guys quoted me 500 bucks for just headers installation. he reckons it would take him the whole day..

Where you going to get the headders? I emailed rush a few weeks ago and the response was that they only di the large primary type now (s/c ones) they are more expensive and I shelved the idea, on a stock na I don't think the gain would be great enough to justify the gain, dot the same coin you can get a piggyback installed and personally I'd go that way 1st

Just called up Mr Muffler, headers he says are not worth it. So maybe headers are out of the question. Still want the V8 sound when you give it stick. However, I don't know what is a good set up. Back to square one.
What can you guys suggest?
As you can tell I'm not very good when it comes to this.

On many cars there is not really any real gain. There are claims and on 2 cars I've had before and after there was stuff all difference.
But on a soarer it's dyno proven, there is a gain to be had, and a reasonable one at that. But I don't know how the large type will compare to the STD type on a stock car

Will that also give you more go in the lower revs? That is the point where I would really like to see more pickup. I was thinking a piggy back ECU might help there to get the right fueling. I would be happy if it gave me the same power as when the car is cold and temp gauge is only on the first or second bar.
