I have a 1uz cressida with a wolf 3dv4 running the show. Recently had a lot of dramas with the car and long story short, apprentice mechanic went to charge my battery and hooked it up the wrong way, blew all fuses including 80 amp main, fixed all that, sent ECU back to wolf for a new fuse and checkover. Yes they paid for it.
But anyway, it only fires on 4 cylinders now. Tested both coilpacks, they are fine. I have a test light so there is 12V getting to both coils. What I need to know is though, what is the other wire in the plug, is it an earth or a neg or something else? I need to know so I can test it.
The lights on the wolf are different too, ignition 1 is like solid on idle, ignition 2 is a really dull faint slow pulse. Which one doesn't belong?
I also want to know Is it possible to bypass everything and run straight 12V from battery and whatever the other wire is straight to the coil to see if that works? Or does it run on a pulse system/will it wreck the coil. Cheers
Simon

Hey all, Sorry Simon can i jump in your thread to save opening a new one?? hehe I have a 1uz iv dropped into my hj tonner,,, using the entire standard wiring loom and ignitors. I am having trouble diagnosing a spark issue... its running on 4 cyls, using a noid light i found no pulse to the top coil.. plenty to the side mounted one... i swapped the ignitors around and it was the same ???? the top ignitor had no pulse and the side one did... so that ruled out a dead ignitor.... Is there a device between the ignitors and the coils?? like a supressor or something??
cheers matt
(BTW before i wired the ignition up to some relays and fuses to start off the key, the engine ran like a dream... im worried iv absent mindedly shorted something out :S )
