Hi,
could use some help here.
There's weird smell when the car heats up making it's way into the cabin. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the engine bay. It smells like burning plastic. I've checked for oil leaks but see anything.
I can smell it outside the when it's in the gararge and at times through the air vents

During driving i once picked up a plastic bag which got caught in the underbody and started to melt, the smell is well, burning plastic? I'm sure you would have noticed though while checking for leaks.

have you installed an aftermarket stereo system? if your running a wire from the battery through the fire wall to power the amps its possible that the wire is touching somewhere and melting

Ok i did find something.
i found water leak on the passengers side really close to the fire wall. i'm guessing its from the AC. The water is leaking onto somewhere on the engine that soo hot that is crackling and evaporating. the crackling sounds like some wires are shorting but i disconnected the battery and it was still going. In time as the engine cools the crackling stops. Note, this is not the generally crackling you get when engine is cooling down.
Anyway, can this have anything to do with the VSV? leaking perhaps?

There should be a small hard rubber hose for the A/C in that area that goes down and towards the side of the car. Normally the water would miss the hot parts and land on the sub frame under the engine but if the hose is missing it may hit the exhaust.
