Hey guys,

My UZZ31 now has around 140,000km's on the clock. Is it worth getting the injectors cleaned or replacing them with cleaned/recon injectors? I guess I could always take them out and get them tested to see if they need it. Just wondering if there is any merit in it or any improvement to be seen.

Don't bother yourself with that if you want more performance do a BFI or exhaust work instead.

The reason for wondering is not performance so much as efficiency. 140,000km's is a lot of acuations and it seems if there is any efficiency to be gained by getting them cleaned or whatever can be done and for a reasonable price that would be a good thing. Better fuel economy never hurt anyone :-)

I am going to do a BFI soonish, gotta choose my plan of attack first.

Hi,

Cleaning Injectors can Improve both Performance and efficiency. The fuel cannot atomize correctly without a correct spray pattern and sufficient flow.

At that kind of mileage and depending what fuel you use. I can't imagine any problems with injectors but like you said it can't hurt. Good luck with the BFI , bout to do mine too

new injectors, spark plugs, leads should make a noticeable change in economy and performance

I wouldn't rely on fuel injector cleaner additives, they might help in some cases, but not all the times. Remove the injectors and take them to get cleaned.

They don't need to be cleaned under normal circumstances.

I have seen injectors pulled down from a car with over 400,000km on them never removed previously and they were perfect.

The suggest that they will need to be cleaned and it will make any form of measureable or noticeable difference is nothing more than.....

as damiam is saying, the car does not have an obvious problem, so taking out injectors to clean is a waste of money.

a good cleaner (eg techtron 5000)for very little money will clean the system. It will probally not be noticeable, but never the less a clean has happened. Done at regular intervals this easy "fix' may prevent a problem and the need to remove injectors.
