boris, he has put people off side by continually posting on yrs outdated posts(this post was 3yrs old) and posting the same story on multible posts.

For the benefit of all users, he has been asked not to post on old posts, and to keep a subject to a single post.

Rob, another problem is that all your posts with pretty much just the same content, will show up in searches diluting the value of searching.

Some one searching on "IACV" for example now has about another 20 useless posts to check in case they contained something useful. Plus this post.

What you guys fail to notice is that - everything is relevant.

Someone searching for another issue may click that something else is wrong from reading an issue that another member has - regardless if directly relevant or not.

Sorry to be rude - But i've been around the internet since 1995 - and I am sick to death of internet bullies and stooges in general.
Forum users thinking they are admin ~

If you don't have anything nice to say - Move on.

This is a Soarer forum where help is given, and taken.

No need to troll me.

Hey Rob - you are a dullard. That Forum user thinking he is an admin...he OWNS the forum.

But you have been around the internet since 1995. So I guess that makes you senior to him.

And to think I just posted in another thread trying to help you out...

Rob, I wasn't being a bully, merely pointing out a valid reason why posting like a scatter gun can actually reduce the value of the forum.

It is unfortunate it ended up going this way. I agree with Rob on the bullying thing. There is a tendency for people to jump on the bandwagon once they smell blood. Not so much on small forums like this, but it is shocking on facebook etc.

I think Rob has the potential to be a valuable contributor. He just needs to apply a little patience and etiquette. Hopefully this experience doesn't turn him away altogether.

Hi guys, I am back.
Thanks for the kind words Ben.

As you can see,
I was being bullied by morons, and was even banned whilst trying to find fixes for my issues.
Not a good way to treat genuine new members as such.

Don't have a lot of cash to spend - spent it all on buying the thing to begin with.
I don't have 1 issue, i have 20 issues.
Each post is relevant to each post which was posted.
All the posts I created and all questions that were asked - belonged in their own post.

Now - I've been trolled, bullied, banned and so on - for doing nothing but trying to find a fix to my issues. Stop this nonsense.
We do not all have the knowledge you possess with Soarer's. We are here because we want to learn.

Now, I am noticing new issues each day with this car. I want them fixed.
Instead, i get a bunch of stooges being internet tough-guys.

The issue is nobody here around my location can fix the thing. Hence why i post on this forum.

If someone will give me the name and number of some kind of mechanic that can work on this thing or even diagnose the thing (in vic) let me know.
(Not sports and luxury cars in Ferntree Gully).

I'd much rather be out driving the Soarer, than be typing on a Soarer forum about NOT driving the Soarer.
I am still yet to find proper answers on forums - all i see is internet spread BS.
People repeat what they heard from another incorrect post and so on - causing other people to swap and change and fk around with their Soarer - and it wasn't even the issue to begin with.
This is why i be specific in my threads.

Forums are all I have at this stage for this terrific car.

Peter Nitschke - and people like him give valuable insight for people like me with no hope of getting a mechanic by themselves.
Those people post how to's with images and so on.
I've seen just about all of them.
They however do not answer my specific questions - which is why I post after reading those fixes anyway.

Basically I'm trying to fix my car.
I don't have the cash to just keep going to random mechanics who have no idea wtf they are even doing with the car.

I am not the enemy.
I will post threads with pics of each fix to this car for you people - even though i was banned and trolled.
I'm not the one who doesn't contribute, and instead trolls random guys seeking help on internet forums.
- and you guys still think that I'm the fkwit...

list of issues:
looping idle.
power steering leak.
possible fuel cap/restrictor/return hose leak.

As it gets fixed, i planned to have full info and pics of everything for future forum users.
It seems like it's never really just 1 thing that can cause all these issues.

My alternator whine (although charging at 100% along with battery) could be caused by, for example:
1. RCA cables.
2. Diode in alternator.
3. Bad earth point.
4. Bad this.
5. Bad that.
6. Yada yada.
And to just swap it it's $200+, if that even fixes the issue. If not, i wasted $200+.

My Looping idle can be, for example:
1. iacv
2. ecu
3. vac leak (but where? /20 places it could be)
4. injectors clogged
5. coolant temp sensor
6. EGR valve
7. blahblahblah
>99. Blahblahblah

So yeah - that's another cash drain.
I need someone who knows wth they are doing on a v8 Soarer.

I've heard people claim you can't have a vac leak in the power steering system also.
In fact, a random mechanic had an argument with me last month that the soarer doesn't even have an idle air up valve and 2 vac hoses on the thing... - you could see the bloody thing.

So, I'm learning - and planning to help out once in the know.
Don't stress out about threads being made or revived - Everything is relevant. People can ignore my posts if they deem it irrelevant. If they find it relevant, or if they realize something from one of my issues - all the better.
This thread was originally revived as I need a fix to MY issue - no other reason.
No need to be macho or whatever and troll me or ban me for example.

There is no animosity here.
Peter,
I enjoyed your restrictor fix (if that was you).
Perhaps you want to take a look at mine?
You seem to be in the know.
I'm sure you know a lot more about Soarers as well.

The fuel restrictor fix was by Paul Irwin - it says so at the top.

Restrictors are no longer needed apparently as you can't buy leaded petrol anymore.

Maybe you can't afford a Soarer. At the end of the day these issues won't fix themselves by talking about them. You will either need to fix then yourself or pay a mechanic to fix them. Judging by your comments you will to pay mechanic. Bite the bullet start fixing stuff. I played $300+ for new leads and it had nothing to do with my issue. Welcome to cars. If you pay a mechanic they should do a proper diagnosis and you pay for that rather then paying for parts you don't need. Sounds like you bought a lemon. If you can't spot one yourself you should have payed a mechanic to look over the car for you. If you can't afford this you really shouldn't be getting your feet wet in cars like this.

So to recap:
1) Pay a mechanic if you can't figure it out or can't fix it yourself.
2) Maybe you can't afford a Soarer.
3) If you buy a car with issues expect it to cost money.

Hey Rob, these cars a learning curve and the possibilities are nearly endless, part of the joys of ownership :-) I worked on a problem where the engine in my 31 would run out of breath for a year, and that was continuous. Every suggestion is either something new to try and learn from or something to confirm what you have already tried.
Attitude is everything, don't let things or people get you down. Smile at the roses man. Its the only way :-)
If you could believe that people are well intentioned you will get the most profit. This forum is like a family, welcome aboard, warts and all. Hope you stick it out and reach your goal of helping others. cheers John

Pay a mechanic come on. With lots of mechanics being high school dropouts or thugs do you expect in-depth analysis, fault finding, quality workmanship? There are only a handful of people who are actually good at finding faults, and who go beyond the mechanic in a can approach.

Rob it seems you are very keen on fixing the problems, unfortunately parts cost money which is why you need to rule down the mode of failure to know exactly which part to replace.

With the loping idle it all depends on exactly how bad it is, I think you said you fixed it with replacing the P/S Idle switch.

Is the idle a pattern, or is it constantly loping, or is it intermittently loping/misfiring?
I have not seen your other threads yet but I have not come on here too much.

It's a lot easier for people to bully others than to help each other, the same way its a lot easier for people to litter than throw their garbage in a bin it takes effort, and in the same way it takes effort to fix problems

To point you in a good direction for things like rough idle or running problems - You have a V8, First thing, try another ECU from a car that is running perfect. Then get the capacitors replaced in your ECU and test/repair any damaged tracks.

Hi guys, thanks for the kind words.
I get what you're saying.

The thing that boris mentioned was spot on - mechanics (mostly) are thugs and dropouts who don't care about an indepth diagnostic usually.
They are in it for the cash.
The more issues, the more they make.

I've been (almost) scammed by 7 different mechanics, and 3 reputable companies when i've taken this car in for fixes.

So - I can fix everything myself - Just need to know what the issues are as such.
Will do another proper diagnostic on the thing if it works this week when i get some wire or a paperclip.

Power steering system has stopped leaking - no idea how or why - I have put no fluid in it for 2 months now.
I reset the tps (without soarer specs as I don't have a feeler) and this has affected the car greatly. Usually i don't get an idle looping issue anymore. I get no missing at 2000rpm anymore. The only issue now is when my foot is right down, the car dies - sorta overfuels or something. Car just cuts revs and goes silent for a second - then when i ease up on the throttle, the car drives as normal.

So - this is a tps issue, and I will buy a feeler in the next few days.
Hopefully the lack of power is just a misaligned TPS or something simple.

:-)

On a side note: I read that if the TPS is registering an IDL contact (due to being put on wrong or what not) for 8 seconds, it will cause the car to start looping in park and neutral the next time you start it.

My car was obviously registering an idl contact and at around 2000rpm would missfire.
Now that tps was moved - the missing and jerking when foots off the pedal has gone.
Just have a lack of 0-40kmh power, and a lack of 100-130kmh power(Seemingly) right now.
Will play with the TPS again when i get a proper feeler gauge and see if power is any better this time. (yesterday before moving tps, the car misfired at 2000rpm and if held there, would drop to 1500rpm, then get back to 2000rpm, then drop again. However, the car had 20% more power than it does today...)

P.s. have tried two different TP sensors.
Lube mobil set one up, a mechanic set the other one up. Both have been set wrong. Both are fully working units.
(worked this out last week).

Will follow the guide on the forums and do it myself this time.
Seemingly, adjusting the tps by hand has done a better job than both people who used multimeters.
Silly 2nd rate mechanics.

High idle/surging - was caused by lack of power steering fluid and or a vacuum leak from said system once the fluid got lower.

Smiffy suggested that power steering leaks can cause the issues above.

I then noticed that when I filled the rez full, then started car - it would idle fine at 650rpm all day.

When the fluid would leak (probably into the intake via pressure switch) and become low, I would surge or have a high idle when starting car and driving along.

Since keeping power steering fluid 100% full, i've not had an issue. (over 3 weeks).

I will be replacing pressure switch asap - hopefully that's all it was.

Easy fix.
