last Sunday I was driving normally when I felt a miss fire. I was around 40KM away from home. After driving for another 10KM the miss fire became more regular, I kept on driving trying to get home. When I was only 5KM away from home, I was unable to drive up to speed of 60km, car was miss firing so much, the engine warning sign 'Engine electrical system' came up. Follow by the TRC sign. I left the car home yesterday. Started the car this morning, same problem. The two warning sign and car miss firing. What could be the problem. I don’t have a problem sending my car to a mechanic (west side VIC) as long as he is honest, know about soarer and not going to rip me off. Save me guys.

george, could be the coil. there are 2, one at the front of the LHS bank, and 1 above and to the rhs of the thermostat
if you measure the coils, the primary (disconnect the 2 wire plug and measure between the pins on the coil) will measure ~0 ohms. from any primary pin to the HT output, it should read ~12k ohms. Early camrys have the same coil, or from castle hill toyota about $130 for a soarer.
