Hey guys,

So my water pump started leaking this weekend. I need to get it replaced. I've ordered a new unit for $154 from road and track in QLD.

My question is, does anyone know a good place in Perth to have it done and the approximate cost I'm looking at to get it replaced?

Hoping it's not going to be too much as it'll probably be up for sale soon once this is fixed!

Thanks,
Leigh

its a reasonable sized job and you should probably get the timing belt and tensioners replaced at the same time seeing as you will be taking them off anyway.

i was quote 600 bucks to get the job done through toyota so you could probably get away cheaper at a local mechanic.

agree with Matt, i changed the water pump, timing belt, serpentine belt, tensioners, rotor buttons and disti caps, spark plugs and leads at the same time. the water pump is basically last in the sequence, you are there for everything else. It took me a couple of days, nothing real hard, just follow the tutorial.

No worries - timing belt, etc, was checked when the engine was put in my car August last year (only had 74,000kms on it and they were fine).

I'll call around soon for a few places to do the water pump.

Thanks guys.

Agreed, best to do it all if you're going to take it all off.

Also can you not do it yourself? It would save you a few hundred at least.

100% with the other guys , even if it looks good and only have 74,000K's on it you will need to change it at 100,000 so why do it all again in 25,000K's from now .

I would do it myself, but I'm not good with this kind of stuff... I'm only good with the basics!

I'll look into replacing the timing belt - anyone know how much the are for the 1uz? I've recently spent 5k+ on it, getting it shmick - new engine, bodykit, etc etc... So I can't spend much more... I'm looking to sell it once it's fixed.

Cheers,
Leigh

You have to pull the timing belt off anyway to change the water pump. There is no extra cost except the parts.

That's what I'm talking about - I've already spent so much on it already... Does anyone know how much a 1uz timing belt is?

Cheers,

Thanks mate! Much appreciated.

So far I've found a Bosch one on eBay for 70 shipped, but I'm going to call the place I got my water pump from tomorrow to see if they have one also. Is that a good price?

Cheers,
Leigh

Is that $600 parts and labour? Even if it's just labour, it seems to be a good price.

You are very lucky Leigh! This can be a $13-1500 job depending what other parts are changed at the same time.
