Hi all I have a 93 V8 imported soarer Everything is stock.

I have this problem, when the car is running it is down on power and cooking the catalic convertors, I have checked and all my ignition componets, the AFM and fuel pressure are all within spec.

I was wondering if it could have something to do with the cold start function in the ECU???

I live in the NT and there are no mechanics that have a clue about soarers.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem as well

Any help will be greatly appricated

Ahhh, the imported Soarer ;)

Have you checked the ignitors (2) AND most importantly the 2 coil packs - coil packs will fail over time .

I'd be checking my coil packs as luke has said. That sounds to me like the culprit

Hey guy's as I have stated I have checked all ignition componets including the ignitors and leads. I have replaced both ignitors and the leads.

You could check all your earthing points, theres a few in the engine bay, easy to check.

How did you check the coil packs?

It could also be ECU failing leaving a couple of injectors switched on.

' I have checked and all my ignition componets'

Luke , as you are a newbie I disregarded your above statement as I doubted you have checked the coil packs. The only sure way to identify a faulty coil is to fit a known working one .

I first check the resistance on the primary and secondary coil windings. It was with in spec, but I have bough new coil's and replaced them and I still have the same problem.

The O2 sensors are isosilating correctly and earth points have been cleaned.

I'm about to contact a mate who has a spare ECU and see if I can try that.

Does anyone know how the cold start function is switched or activiated????

Keep the questions coming it's all helping.

Thanks again

All sorted it turned out to be a faulty king lead from the coil to the drivers side distributor.
