I'm doing the test because the car doesn't have rego (or number plates)
My mate is giving me his compression tester, he has done the Right Hand Side of the block for me (when it was up in NSW) but couldn't get to the left hand side.
So i'll be doing the left on the weekend when I get the kit

if the water level hasnt dropped in the overflow bottle, i would let it run a bit longer and do what you have been doing. Mine was similar after sitting around for a mth.

Still no real signs of a Blown Head Gasket.
I'm waiting on my door trims to get here, then the car will be rego'd and taken for a 1-2 hour drive.
This should confirm if it is or not. Seems to be slightly less stuff coming out the exhaust, but its Tasmania and winter, so until I drive it, I don't really know

Chris thats my baby now. Daniel Lee did the all the work and took the video. But now I get to drive it every day and LOVE it. Also that video is only revving to about 3.5 maybe 4 grand. You should hear it on the rev limiter!! Or in the Domain tunnel.
Good luck with yours lets hope its just Tassie weather.

Still cant test the bloody thing. Gonna cost me about $950 to get it rego'd for 12 months, inspected etc. And I still have to finish the door trims.. ARGH!!

Welcome to world of soarers Chris. Actually welcome to world of "keeping an older car o n the road" They will end up costing you a fortune. But in my opinion it generally costs less to fix and maintain an older car than buy a new one and loose all the depreciation. Keep going mate you will get there soon. Also even if the engine is stuffed, you can buy a complete second hand engine for less than fixing a head gasket. So just get it on the road, see how it goes, and worry about the engine later.
Jamie is right. if water is getting into your oil (blown head gasket) it will foam up a little due to the agitation of the oil with the spinning engine internals and boil off at the same time from the heat causing condensation.
