my v8 soarer when warmed up properly, its very slow low down. it feels like its just bogging down and slow. but when the temperature gauge reads half way between dead cold and half way( properly warmed up) the car is fine.

I have a factory original 91 and just plugged it back in, I took a left hand turn from a standstill and after 150m there was still rubber burning lol. Plug it back in and it's a slug till 4000rpm. I'm thinking an aftermarket ecu can give the same result, needs extra fuel down low

I have found driving it manually helps a little as well as being nice and progressive with the throttle, rather than just standing on it. Still on those odd occasions when it just burns rubber, you are lift with a grin and wishing for that all the time.
Who makes aftermarket ECU's for the V8 and what are the cost ranges? Is it something you find on Yahoo Japan?

wolf 3d make after market ecu's. i no this problems normal. but my v8 seems even more sluggish than normal. i reckon i could get dragged off by a hyundai getz.

Adam, this subject has been covered before. Have you done a search? There is plenty of info about it. Could be : clogged cat, broken muffler, fuel filter, plugs, dirty air filter, ecu, and many other things not mentioned here.

The exhaust temp sensors are behind the cats. I cut one by accident and it made no difference(thought it was an oxy sensor ). I'm in the same boat as you Andrew-there is just something up with the V8 once shes warm, sluggish and slow.

I just re-tuned Nik's car with the emanage ultimate and AFM removed, using TPS metering.
Before tuning, after AFM removal AFR's we're in the 11's or lower in the midrange under mid throttle, cruise ignition was off up to 24 degrees in some areas.
If it goes much better disconnected, it will be a bullet when tuned. Nik's 1UZ with exhaust, extractors, BFI + panel filter, and Emanage ultimate + AFM removal made 167rwkw. It is a 94 model i believe. It made 163 with the standard airbox and AFM still in the restriction path. The final figure was with a 3.5inch test intake pipe off the throttle body.
I suspect cars that don't respond well to the AFM disconnect don't have a TPS aligned as to factory specs and / or have weak ignition systems. The additional fuel and the lack of ignition advance can make mixtures hard to ignite and so stop masking any ignition related faults.

Joe, Adam, any luck with this?
I got really frustrated yesterday when going slightly up hill, I struggled to overtake a truck. Once the car got to 3000rpm or so it started to go, but I was nearly out of road. Its like something unblocks and the car gets the fuel, air or something that it needs.
To date I have been replaced: Dissy caps, rotor buttons, plugs, leads, coil packs.
I have done the BFI mod.
Mileage is good, so didn't think it is the oxy sensors.

Cihan, I wouldn't mind getting my car dynoed sometime to see what it's making as-is and what the upgrade path you'd reccomend in the future when I'm finacially a little more stable.

Not sure. I don't think it is right, but I have nothing to compare it to. Its just how the cars are, but how much is to much?
I'll do some searching and reading on this temp sensor. If its an easy fix for $50 DIY, then I'll probably just do it and see if it makes a difference.
