I am in the middle of fitting my extractors. When removing manifolds to fit extractors, does it matter if the studs come out with the nuts on them rather than the nuts coming off the studs. Can I just screw the studs back in with the nuts still on them when I have the extractors on?

No it doesn't really matter but yes they shouldn't come out, they should just screw back into the head. That is unless you have sheered the stud.

more of a problem is if it come out with the threads of the head still on it!

If it has pulled the thread out of the head your in a world of you will need a right angle drill and a heli-coil kit (lots of offensive language is optional but much more friendly then kicking the next-door's cat)

I'd also be interested in pics. Did you do it by yourself? Have a hoist or just on stands on the driveway?

I did it by myself on axle stands in the hobbies workshop at my work. Took about 13 hours followed by a couple of hours to install the Whiteline swaybars from Costas groupbuy. Nothing technically challenging in the job but lots of working in quite confined spaces while lying on your back. Can be quite slow as you can't get a ratchet and socket on most of the manifold studs. Didn't get round to taking any pics as my hands were always covered in muck. Will put up some pics of the finished job when I get the rest of the system fitted tomorrow (2.5" pipe, mandrel bends, 2 x Hi-flo cats, 2 x Lukey Ultraflows, Magnaflow X-pipe).

replace the studs with the new ones before finishing the job, just peace of mind if you ever have to take them off again
